Alan Moran

Dr. Alan Moran is an experienced agilest with considerable experience in IT management and the development and delivery of services and products (e.g. oversight of major applications and complex platforms delivering key services to large numbers of users, direction and management of programmes and projects). His expertise include strategic management, risk management (including security), finance and governance.

Throughout his career, which has spanned both public and private sectors (including Finance, Education, Public Administration), he has maintained a keen interest in establishing and optimizing agile processes along with a passion for embedding agile principles into management practice. As managing director of the Institute for Agile Risk Managementopens in new window, a Swiss based institution that exists to promote the principles and practices of agile management and the agile enterprize, he undertakes research in association with a wider network of agile and academic communities as well as the private sector. A mathematics doctoral graduate, Dr. Moran is the holder of an MBA as well as numerous other IT and Agile certifications which reflect his commitment to lifelong learning. In addition, he is an active member of several professional bodies including the BCS where he holds chartered member status. As an established thought leader in the field of agile management he has authored several publications including 'Agile Risk Management' and 'Managing Agile: Strategy, Implementation, Organisation and People' (both from Springer Verlag). His collaboration with leading organizations has included the DSDM Consortium for whom he has written the pocketbook 'Agile Risk Management and DSDM'.

Dr. Moran is a frequent speaker at conferences and other public engagements on topics ranging from agile management, flexible organizational structures, people management, project governance and innovation.
